This is so cool, I especially love the technique on the figure, blown away is an understatement.
RETNA & EL MAC collaboration Mural
Here is their explanation:
The imagery and text used in this mural was inspired by their time spent at Skid Row, while painting their previous mural. The artists met a man by the name of Ralph Woodruff aka Chato and were inspired by his past hardships, experiences, and overall outlook on life. His ability to recognize past mistakes was something that resonated with RETNA.
The text which reads, “So today I’m trying to change a few things to rectify the situation of my past. So today I’m looking towards the future (of our youth highlighted)” is a quote taken from their conversation.
Check out this lovely looking park in Cordoba Spain.
Description from the architects:
Its location close to the railway station of the AVE high speed train in Cordoba city can take advantage of this gap as a unique opportunity, giving the character and scale necessary to assume as a new focus of interest not only confined to the neighborhood, but as a magnet in conjunction with the city.
We opted for a solution that allows a wide variety of uses. It offers a covered area, protected from the weather, which will house a temporary market two days a week and other activities at other times.
It therefore poses a solution based on prefabricated circular elements that vary in height and diameter and arranged in a flexible manner to allow a similar vision of an urban forest of shadows. The parasols also solve the artificial lighting in the same item and allow drainage of water inside.
You can watch some short videos on YouTube about the project here and here.

Lately we’ve been so busy just trying to fulfill orders we haven’t had any time to add new stuff let alone come up with new ideas. Well, I say enough of that! A person needs to feel creative every now and again, it makes one feel alive to get down and dirty and design.
Below is my first attempt in awhile to get creative. These ideas below came to me in a dream, I’m not going to say what kind or any more details about it, you can fill in the blanks. I think you’ll get what I am trying to do here. If any of yawl have time please let me know which design you like best, or if you like them all… or if you have other ideas to put behind the zipper feel free to comment below.
We just added a cityscape look, ala comic book feel. Its 88×25 inches. Get some of our comic BIG words and you’ll be sporting a serious comic kids room!
I always love to see how artists and designers go about making their masterpieces. Evan Hecox is a designer and illustrator specializing in creating graphics for posters, skateboards and the music industry. This marvelous film by Arkitip and Incase invites you to have an inside look at Evan’s creative process at his Denver studio. I especially like how it all starts with a bycicle ride and and old camera. I recommend you take the time to view this video in full screen.
The other day my (11 year old) son comes up to me and shoves a piece of paper in my lap. He asks, “dad can you put this in the computer for me?” I look down and its this awesome little sketch you see below (He and his pals are forming a neighborhood team by the way.) Now granted I am his Dad so I am a bit biased, but heck I was blown away by the concept of it. So I did what every self respecting dad would do, I sat right down and did what he asked. He was so excited. The next day we printed out the logos on some hot press material and he and his pals all have new graphic tees for their neighborhood baseball team. I am still giddy about it.
I was sitting here being bored, I hate being bored, so I decided to play with some type to see what I could create. This was the result. Its a butterfly using characters from Avante Garde Gothic family of fonts. The question is which color do I go with, and which product line, shirt, decal, print… do tell?
We found this one the swiss-miss.com blog. Thought it was worth steeling for ours. Its a great example of how tastes evolve once you get older and your visual vocabulary enlarges.
